Lawton Public Schools Project AWARE is dedicated to changing the culture, atmosphere and stigma surrounding mental health through education and training. We understand that mental health plays a vital role for all our children and strive to ensure that we are supporting an all inclusive atmosphere.
The AFO First Responder toolkit is a helpful tool for our Lawton Public Schools Police Department and Autism units within our district to utilize when helping a student cope with the stress of an emergency or crisis situation. This toolkit is intended to ease anxiety and assist in increasing communication for those that may be non-verbal, individuals with autism and other disabilities in high-stress situations. Mental health matters at every level and supporting the needs of our students through the help of Project AWARE and the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma is a step in the right direction.

LPS Family: We are aware of a social media post shared last night regarding a school threat. We have worked with authorities to determine the report was made out of state and is not a threat to LPS. Law enforcement did investigate the original report made. We will continue to monitor and ask that our families report anything suspicious they see or hear to law enforcement. Thank you.

LPS Family: The PTA, PTO & Booster Club meeting scheduled for tonight at CMS (5:30 pm) has been cancelled. We will send a notice out with a new date soon. Thank you.
