Gateway Success Center Seeking Students to Fill Seats in New Personalized Learning Center

Applications are now being accepted!

Attention: Beginning with the 2017-2018 school year, Gateway Success Center will shift its instructional model to a blended and personalized learning model, similar to programs funded by Silicon Valley's most successful companies. Additional information on personalized learning can be found on Gateway's website.

Gateway Success Center is currently seeking interested high school students in the Lawton area to apply. INTERVIEWS will be scheduled late this summer for 2017-2018 school year prospects. The students who are accepted into the program will begin the Gateway Personalized Learning Program, on August 11th, 2017.

What is Gateway Success Center? Gateway is an alternative personalized learning high school program which serves grades 9-12 and provides services to high school students from Eisenhower High School, Lawton High School, MacArthur High School, and are in a partnership with Geronimo Public Schools.

What does Gateway Success Center offer? Class size is small with usually no more than fifteen students per class; other available services are credit recovery and a flexible schedule. Gateway takes pride in this successful offering of a small student to teacher ratio plus a rapid availability of high school credits.

Does Gateway offer any advanced educational opportunities?  Through partnerships with Cameron University and Great Plains Technology Center, students are offered several opportunities for career and educational advancement.  The PLC @ Gateway offers a full-service learning experience; a place where college and careers become an absolute partnership with high school. It is a place where students are empowered, and parents and teachers are liberated with real-time data about performance and progress; a place where every student has control over time, place, path and pace.

How is Gateway personalized for every student? Students have the opportunity to dynamically customize their own schedules.  In addition to taking courses at Gateway Success Center campus, students may also take courses at their home high school campus, Great Plains Technology Center, or through university concurrent.  Through the personalized education plan, students will be enrolled in a customized, scalable course load.  We believe that managing four at a time creates opportunities for students to find immediate success in their courses.  A student may complete a course as quickly as they demonstrate competency, with the capacity to begin taking a new course immediately thereafter.

What does the Gateway daily schedule contain?

A student attends school each day between 7:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. for four and one-half hours.  They will be involved in teacher-led student skill groups, study groups, group project sessions, or working alone on chosen courses.  Student assemblies are held monthly where we nourish our culture of student success.

Graduation: Even though a student may be attending Gateway, he/she will still receive a diploma from the home school.

Gateway Success Center is a stand-alone alternative school program within Lawton Public Schools which offers a non-traditional route to achieve a high school diploma.
