Psi Upsilon Donates Coats To Local High School Students.

By Brother Eugene DeLoach, Sr.

The Brothers of Psi Upsilon Chapter, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity conducted their first coat drive on December 18, 2017 at Lawton High School (LHS).  LHS is the largest High School in Lawton.  This will become an annual event in which the chapter will rotate among the three High Schools.  The “Boom Boom” Ques presented LHS assistant clothing closet chairperson, Mrs. Almeter Vines, with three tables of coats to give to students who do not have winter jackets.   The chapter’s motto for this event:  “No Student should be without a winter coat during the winter season.”   LHS is a 70% free/reduced lunch school, which means that many of the students come to school without coats.  This is the reason that LHS was chosen as the first school to receive coats.  Mrs. Almeter Vines was very grateful for the coats that the chapter provided for the students.  The coats will be given without cost to the appropriate students.  Next year, the chapter will conduct an annual coat drive with Eisenhower High School.  The second largest high School in Lawton.
